October, 2008 I had a knee replacement and the doctors said after the surgery that they were impressed due to all the arthritis that I had been able to walk. Now I have a lot of pain in my arms especially upper and a little in the chest/breast area. I am presuming this is all arthritis but I would like to know if this could affect my heart when it is in this area.

Extremely eHealthy
Certain forms of arthritis, can cause chest pain and tenderness in the region of chest where the ribs connect to the breastbone, a condition known as costochondritis.
This pain is, usually, felt in the front of the chest, but, it can be felt more expansively, too.
It is good to know that the systemic inflammation involved in rheumatoid arthritis might also promote cardiovascular disease.
Arthritis patients, often, have silent heart diseases, so, the regular cardiac checkups are necessary for them.

Best wishes!
