My wife and I have had some very bad luck with birth control.
we started out with the nuvaring and unfortunately it didn't help us at all. every time we tried to have sex it was extremely painful and the first time she put it in (the nuvaring) she was having breakthrough bleeding for about a month.
Now she is on Loestrin with iron and even though the pain has gone down, it is still present to the degree that we can't have sex. Is this a residual symptom from the nuvaring or should we try a different birth control? Any help would be appreciated. thanks.

..
I would suggest going to the gynecologist and having a pelvic exam done to see what's going on inside of her. I would imagine that after having a something set up inside of her for so long, it would cause discomfort for a little while, but you should get a professional opinion to be safe. I doubt the birth control she is taking now has anything to do with it, but don't quote me on this. It's just, from personal experience, I would have to say that if the pain doesn't keep going down, if it stays the same for more than 5 to 7 days or gets worse, she needs to have it checked out just in case. I would imagine that it will stop on it's own. But it might have not been inserted properly, which sometimes happens, and could cause some irritation. And if there was irritation caused by it, intercourse won't help it heal. Give it a few days without intercourse and see if it gets better. If not, doctor's office.
