okay...I have been having lower abdominal pain during intercourse for about six months off and on. I have been to my OB and had my exam he said that everything seemed fine however I did have a bacterial infection and put me on some meds. The pain did not go away entirely however it did ease up. Sometimes when I'm doing everyday activities I have very sharp stabbing pain in my abdomen and it continues for about three or 4 days until it eases enough that it is a faint ache but I continue to have pain during intercourse it feels like the first time over and over. I recently went to my family Dr. he ran some blood work, did an ex-ray and sent me for a ultrasound. However again I've been diagnosed with a bacterial infection and nothing else however I still have the pain. I'm not going to let it go because I know that it is not right for my body. I should not feel like this. I'm getting discouraged though. aNY THOUGHTS on what it could be. I need help I'm going to go beck for more test but I fell like I'm at a dead end. HELP! Sad Sad Sad Sad I have look up a lot of things on google and I know that there are some different things that it could be but if the ultrasound did not pick it up what is next?

expierencing the same thing
mine has been going on since march something and is so inconsistent i've gone to the ER, my local clinic and different OB-GYN's however because i have no insurance they want money up front for every visit.

they keep saying its a bacterial infection, and the only thing they've actually treated me for is PID, however that's not it. antibiotics havent helped. i've been told that it could be many different things but the last doctor i went to treated me for PID AGAIN and when that didnt work she said that since i didnt fit every single symptom for several different things that she didnt know what else to do and that i needed to find someone else to go to.

if you have a reply please reply back to me as well, because like you i know this isnt right but nobody seems to know what it is or what to do which is rather irritating as well as scary.

i wonder if you girls aren't having muscular problems. like spasms of the pelvic floor muscles.

it would be logical because once a bacterial infection is eliminated, you would "appear" very normal vaginally. what might NOT be noticed is if your pelvic floor muscles go into spasm on occasion (which would be likely during sex or normal activity).

your gyno should be able to make this determination for you and tell you about some exercises / stretches to do inside your vagina (you'll need an assistant like a b/f). the stretches hurt, but it does make the siuation better pretty quickly. one of my g/f's has this problem and it sounds just like what y'all have going on.

i hope that's it for y'all, because it's a pretty easy fix (no medicine needed and also there's nothing really "wrong" with you). just maybe a little too "tight" down there!

good luck to both of you. i hope y'all start to feel better real soon.

Could it be a regular muscle strain?
Sometimes when I make love, my hips go out of place and I get a strain in my hip muscle.

Holding yourself in the same position awkwardly for a long time can put strain on your lower abdominal muscles. It could even be the way that you move while making love; if you use your hips and not your back, then you will probably stress your hips too much.

I know that if I am in one awkward position too long, under my shoulder hurts, deep inside.

Do you think that both of you could just be straining yourselves?

I think it is kind of odd, though, that you both have had bacterial infections with it. Maybe the infection just made your cervix (or other muscular structures) sensitive and sore, and it feels like your lower abdomen is to blame?

I am sorry I can't really give you a definitive answer. I just think it could be strain-related or possibly pain and soreness associated with the infection.

same problem here
This is exactly what I have been experiencing. I went to doctor even though I don't have insurance. They found a bacterial infection and I was put on an antibiotic. After several days on the antibiotic, I was still having a lot of lower abdominal/pelvic pain. I ended up going to the ER recently. They did an ultrasound of my lower abdomen and also x-rays and it all seemed to be okay. Also, there was no more infection according to the labs. I left with no further info. I am beginning to realize that it may be that I have a strained pelvis, because when I press on my lower stomach, I can actually press right on the pain, which makes me think it's relatively shallow. And when I sit in certain positions, it hurts to breathe, I think because it's stretching the muscles. I am not sure how long it's going to take to heal, but according to what I've read online, it can take several weeks. And even that is with a physical therapist, which I don't have, considering I'm uninsured and already spent thousands on the ER.

I would be interested to hear about other's experiences, especially those who wrote above, to see if they have healed, how long it took, and if they feel better now.

update
Hi, I wrote in not too long ago, but thought I should clarify some things. I was having pelvic and lower abdominal pain, and I thought maybe it could possibly just be the pelvic muscles. But the past few days, the pain has been moving upward in the digestive tract, so I no longer think it's just muscles. The doctors couldn't find anything after xrays and ultrasounds. Hopefully it will go away soon on its own. It is a bit better today than yesterday.
