Hi -

I've been experiencing pretty constant pain below my ribcage in the middle. I had an endoscopy and was diagnosed with a hiatal hernia. I also had an ultrasound which was normal. An ekg was normal as well. I'm taking Nexium twice a day and Sucralfate a few times a day but sometimes it makes it worse. Despite all this, I still get heartburn occasionally and the dull pain doesn't really go away. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm contacting my gastroenterologist again tomorrow. Embarassed

What did your doctor say at your appointment?

Hi - My doctor put me on Protonix and says it's the hiatal hernia, although he does not know why the meds are not working. They may do a gastro-nasal test next. I happened to speak to someone yesterday who also said the meds do not work for her and surgery was suggested. I am not going that route, until I've exhausted all roads!

I'm curious to know what happened to you Lioness2001?
I have had the same problems over the last month or so, and no meds have helped. I also have hiatal hernia. BUT, now I'm told that it is probably my gallbladder, and that it needs to come out.

I have that problem right now. I was diagnosed in October 2007 with a hernia. I was put on prilosec and urisodol. In June of last year I stopped taking them because I moved. The doc I have now, won't treat me. My liver enzymes are elevated and for the last two weeks, I have spent my days either in the bathroom or on the couch with a heating pad. I have all ready had my gall bladder out. I really wish I knew what was next. katch
