Given the symptoms you provided (pain behind the eyes) ,you might be experiencing a migraine. Migraine is a neurological disorder associated with headaches, altered perceptions, and nausea.

Although there are different theories, the exact cause for migraines remains unknown. The typical migraine attack affects only one side of the head and is associated with pulsating pain and hypersensitivity to light. Nausea and even vomiting might be present, too. In one third of all patients unusual sensory (visual or olfactory) experiences might announce the start of the migraine attack.

The therapy includes analgesics for the headache and anti-emetics for the nausea. Other medications such as serotonin agonists and anti-depressants might be helpful, too. However, each of these medications can be taken only if recommended by a neurologist whom you might want to see. The neurologist might need additional examinations such as an x-ray, MRI, or an EEG to rule out other possible causes for the pain behind the eyes.
