I am receiving treatments for lower back pain - nothing major, just looking for improvement. I am also having a problem with acute pain at the back of one knee. The pain never completely goes away and most of the time is tolerable. It does, though, go through patterns of severe pain at times, which mostly happen after periods of either sitting or laying, when I stand up. 99% of the time the only discomfort is just at the back of the knee, but occasionally the pain will spread half way down the calf and half way up the thigh. It's been checked out by my doctor, I've had it x-rayed, and nothing has been detected.
I have just read some information about Sciatica and was wondering if Sciatica can cause symptoms similar to mine.

Sounds like you need to see a spine specialist to properly diagnose your spine problems.

you didn't say what kind of treatment you are having, who is providing it for you, but it appears that you are developing new symptoms and that should be checked out.

You also don't say what kind of pain you are having in your back or your knee.

You also don't say what kind of doctor has checked out your new pain problems.

Sciatica can cause the pains you are having and it can be caused by spinal stenosis.

X-rays will not show the problems, you will need an MRI and a spine surgeon to diagnose you and provide proper treatment.

Good luck
