If your massive pain is a recent phenomenon that has come about at the same time as this cold then it is quite possible it is caused by the cold. You may want to get it checked out by your primary care provider just to rule out meningitis.

If it is a "head cold" then rest is the best medicine. You may also consider supplementing with vitamin C, E and D. If this pain in the back of the head is something you frequently suffer from, then it is suggested that you consult with a chiropractor. Many times this type of pain is caused from muscle tension in the neck. Chiropractic care is very effective in the treatment of headaches and neck pain, among other conditions. Good luck!
