I've been having pains in my right side of my stomach around the liver area as well as pain across the back and under my right shoulder blade. This has been going on for 4 months now. At times I feel sick with it.

My GP and my consultant thought it could be gallstones, or a gallbladder related problem, but my ultrasound, endoscopy and HIDA scan all showed normal results. I'm now being referred to a Gastroentrologist, but I'm sure what they are going to look at next.

Apart from suffering with IBS my bowel habits are fine.

Are there further issues associated with the gallbladder, if it was grit or sludge would these tests pick it up. If its not they gallbladder, what else might they want to look at?

Ultrasound and HIDA scan, together, can diagnose mroe than 95% of gallbladder conditions. Your GI doctor may wish to perform an upper endoscopy to rule-out gastroesophageal reflux, gastritis or peptic ulcer disease, among other possible conditions. Also, kidney stones or kidney infection, and chronic pancreatitis should be considered, as well.
