asked by: DoctorQuestion on September 16th, 2009
Hi im a 19 yo male. i was born with era problems and had tubes and such done for years. In march of 2009 i went for a physical and the doctor claimed I had wax bild up and that it needed to be removed. He had a nurse fill a surigne with a liquid and pushed it into my ear. That night i ended up at the hospital cause I had lost my hearing in that ear and it was profusly bleeding. They told me until it stoped bleeding nothing could be done. Now its september and I have a pain towards my inner ear and it feels inflamed and hurts when I swllow anything. What could this be and what should I do?

Hi
Welcome to the forum!
You had tubes (myringotomy) placed in as a child. This means you probably had recurrent infections as a child. While cleaning the ear, you had bleeding and loss of hearing. This could be because of injury some where in the external ear canal, injury to ear drum (very likely), middle ear infection, and inflammation of the external ear.
There is not much that can be done by way of guidance on net in this case. You need to consult an ENT specialist (take a second opinion if the present one was an ENT) and do as advised. There is a chance that you have infection in the inner or middle ear and hence the pain.
Hope this helps. Take care!
