I just had a hysterectomy, my ovaries were left intact. Last night while at the hospital still I got out of bed and experience a sharp stabbing with some burning on the left side of my incision. For some reason is goes away as soon as I sit down. I only get up to go to the bathroom, is anyone else experiencing this pain? Is this normal?

The pain your having is normal and can carry on for a couple of weeks, I had a total hysterectomy 4 weeks ago and i'm still experiencing pain, it can take up to 8 weeks to settle down.

Hi Michelle52 and welcome to ehealth: I am taking it that you had an Abdominal Surgery....I will agree with you that the pain can be something else...But, it will get better....The problem being that they kind of move everything around inside of us and remember you also have some inside stitching done...

Take it easy...No picking up anything heavy and rest...Take care.....
