hello
i had arthrocentesis( bilateral) on 23rd march for severe tmj problems.

i had a g/a and it took 30 mins.

post operatively a nightmare, pain on opening mouth left side only-right side perfect.

i am still in pain,2 weeks on, and cannot open my mouth to get more than my index finger between both top/bottom teeth. I cannot believe it is much worse now than pre-op.

i am told that it can take minimum of 6 weeks to improve, but i am vaguely concerned that why my right side is perfect already, yet my left side is agony and feels like a tight band is inside still.

the doctor did say that my jaw was a nightmare and they had trouble with the left side and fluid was left in the jaw as they could not get it out as it was very tight in the joint! Could this be the reason i am experiencing these problems?

please help......

vicky
