Q: Pain a week after getting fillings

Last week, I got fillings in both sides of my mouth. For the first few days, I felt fine, but since Sunday, I've been experiencing a lot of pain in the jaw area and in the teeth themselves, somewhat. The pain comes and goes every few hours rather than being an all-day thing. It seems to come every evening sometime before I go to bed. Then when I lie down, the pain gets much worse. I've read that this is because the blood pressure in the head goes up when one lies down. The pain while lying down is too much for me to fall asleep with, so I've been taking Tylenol every night. I'm a bit worried about the effects of daily Tylenol consumption on my liver. Also, I'm quite concerned about this pain coming back multiple times every day.

This is pretty normal...The filling can react to both hot and cold for a while...Add a sore jaw and this is pretty much the recipe for a couple of fillings...Seeing you had them on both sides of your mouth makes things doubly worse...It should settle down soon...I wouldn't worry about the small amount of medication...You will be just fine...If it continues to bother you call the dentist....However, like I said, I believe this is just a part of the fillings...

Take care,
Caroline
