Idea My friend has a doctors doctor prescription to take 30mg Oxycontin. Its been about 4 months and he does them more often than he used to. Now I notice he snorts them and does about 5-6 a day. How can I help him? He can't be himself without doing them. He hurts and feels sick if he tries to get off them. What can I do Question lifepreserver lifepreserver

Oxy addict
I too was once an oxy addict along with methadone. You as a friend can introduce him to Narcotics Anonymous/Alcoholics Anonymous. Believe me it works. My best friend took me to a meeting once over 5 years ago and I have been clean ever since.

He needs to get help now before its too late. Oxycontin overdose can kill. It happens way too often and its so unfortunate. My ex was available to oxy once a month. I DREADED it! I dont even understand why he did it, he also snorted. I would ask him why...and he would tell me that the first few hours are worth it. Well after those few hours, he would come down off the narcotic. He would always be such a DICK! He was so mean and impatient. I was always afraid to be around him that time of the month.

Of course he's gonna hurt and feel sick if he tries to stop, those are withdrawals. And yes, he's going to experience them, but he HAS to look at is as its worth it. His health is worth it, you are worth it, his job is worth it, his future is worth it, his life is worth it.
