I am having severe intestinal
issues that I'm pretty sure I have
inherited from my daddy. Our
symptoms are severe abdominal
pain afer eating any meal, followed
by an immediate run to the restroom
to have a very loose, watery stool.
The pain is so severe and the only way
to describe it is like you can actually
feel the peristalisis, or intestinal
movements. I had my gallbladder
removed at the age of 18, but at
the time I was told I most likely
had IBS along with gallbladder
disease. After trying all OTC
medications, such as lactose
intolerants, the only relief we
seem to find is after drinking alcohol.
The alcohol seems to slow the
peristalisis and prevents the
rush to the restroom. I have done
a lot of research and can't seem
to find anything like we have.
I don't believe we have IBS from what
I've read, because alcohol seems
to make IBS worse. I would like
to have a diagnosis of our condition
and see if there is any other
treatment than an alcoholic drink
every night. I have also found that
a lot of bowel disorders are more common
with Jewish decent, and we do
fall under that category. SOMEBODY
PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!

Did you get any replies? I want something to slow down peristalisis. I agree totally with the alcohol connection. I would go out for lunch and in about 30 mins, I would desperately be seeking a bathroom. But if I went out for dinner, I didn't seem to have as much trouble,I finally decided the difference was having alcohol. It probably has a relaxing effect on the gut and slows it down. I do think it is a form of IBS. The best treatment for me was taking the liquid metamucil about 6 years ago when it was recommended by a nurse practioner. I was having constant diarrhea and thought how can that help? It did. It regulates the bowel in both directions by correcting the water absorption. I was symptom-free for several years and now I have trouble off and on. Good Luck.
