Hi,

I have an ongoing problem with my bladder and bowel and am completely unsure what the problem could be.

I am a slim 27 year old male in generally good physical health but go to toilet about 3 times every night, despite not drinking any fluid beyond 8PM. During most day times i don't have a problem and i wouldn't say my frequency to the toilet is any different to any one else. However, every now and then my bladder will go crazy and after i drink a relatively small amount of fluid (less than a pint) i find myself having to go to the toilet every 5-10 minutes for an hour, passing a very generous amount of clear urine, which after the fifth time starts to feel uncomfortable.

I also find that when i am drinking alcohol with friends my bladder goes into overdrive. I don't really like beer so tend to drink spirits with lemonade and despite the fact that my friends drink pints and i have half the fluid that they do, i go for a pee probably 3 times more often than they do!!

I have been to the doctors and had blood tests for calcium and glucose (possibly others, can't remember) which returned nothing untoward. I am now seeing a specialist and am waiting to have a cystoscopy which i am not looking forward to. However, going through the British health service is very slow and a year has flown by without really getting anywhere so far, so i would love to know if anyone has any idea's as to what i may have, please.

It's also worth me mentioning that i also think i have issues with my bowel, which i have never mentioned to my specialist. I have a very active bowel and get lots of wind which i find myself having to hold in whilst at work, which is very uncomfortable and i find myself passing lots of wind in the evening which my poor wife has to put up with giggle
I also sometimes go through stages where i have horrible diorrea followed by spells of constipation so perhaps i have some form of bowel syndrome? which could be a part cause of my bladder problems?

Any advice or help would be much appreciated. I know i have to wait for my cystoscopy test first and continue to see what my specialist suggests but it would be great if someone out there has a strong idea which i could suggest to him.

Many thanks.
