About 3 wks ago a cyst ruptured. an ultrasound was done and they saw the blood and fluid surrounding my right ovary. They said they my cycle should take care of it. I they had the same pain last monday. turns out after a ct scan showed a few more small ones around the same ovary.

My nurse practitioner prescribed birth control pills for 3 months. This is supposed to cure them.

Is this true and has this worked for other women out there? I also have an IUD and they are saying that this could have caused a form of endometris (spelling)

i have never had this before. they also said that they may need to remove it if the BC doesnt work.that would be bad because I cant take hormonal BC due to my hormones.

Try looking up PCOS, which is polycystic ovarian syndrome. There are sites that have a lot of good info as well as lifestyle changes that can help . I have been recently diagnosed with PCOS but at my age (37) the just want to put me into early menopause. I have read the BC pills offered relief but have not tried it myself as the pills come with their own issues at my age. I had an ovary removed a few years ago that had so many cysts it was the size of a grapefruit, when normally it is smaller than a golfball I was told.
For the pain itself try taking vitamin e on a daily basis, it somehow levels out the hormones. When I do take it regularly I have no symptoms nor do I have cramps during my period. Of course I found that in a holistic medical book before I knew about the cysts while searching for a relief for major cramps.

I will tell you that under no circumstance, unless life threatening , should you have an ovary removed. the weight gain is phenominal. It is extremely hard to get off, in my case I have had no such luck at all but continue to gain after 3 years ..Staring at 145 pre -surgery and ballooning to 248. I have managed to get down to 210 but the rest is going nowhere. Not to mention that I look like I am in my early fifties rather than my actual age. The transformation itself was a nightmare. If I could go back I think I would have kept the ovary and taken the pills. Smile
