My husband and I have been trying to conceive for about 8 months now and I really thought I was pregnant this time (but no positive tests) but I started having very painful cramping and went to the ER last night and it turns out I just have an ovarian cyst. I just started bleeding heavily today and there are tiny clots or tissue that is dark. I'm worried I'm actually having a miscarriage, but only a cyst showed up in the ultrasounds they did last night. I've had a miscarriage before, and I guess it's just the tiny clots that are scaring me. Last time, I had gray tissue discharge followed by heavy bleeding. Has anyone else ever had to deal with the same thing? Did it turn out to be just bleeding from a ruptured cyst? Or were you having a miscarriage? I'm honestly completely devastated. I still am grieving over my first miscarriage and I don't know how I could cope with having another.

Hi,
Welcome to ehealthforum,
Getting a blood HCG estimation done will help to differentiate between the cause for bleeding with clots and cramps from miscarriage or due to ovarian cyst. If the HCG test comes positive, the bleeding could be attributed to miscarriage (and a D&C procedure might be required to clean up the uterus). Repeat ultrasound scan done will also help to see if there are products of conception in uterine cavity, or if the ovarian cyst has ruptured. Visit your doctor/gynecologist at the earliest for further evaluation and assistance.
Take care.
