Q: Outer labia hurts during intercourse

I may have unintentionally caused the problem because I scrub my outer labia every week for it to look much cleaner. Unfortunately, I scrubbed my left outer labia too hard and now it's become overly sensitive even with the slightest touch. And now during intercourse, the friction hurts it even more. It came to a point that we'd have to completely stop because the friction of the left part was unbearable.

I am appalled at what I did and so seeking for help if there's any topical medication that I can put to un-sensitivize it or any rituals or procedures that can help.

Thanks.

Did you take some skin off?

I find that a poultice of bees wax and propolis really helps heal skin problems, even in sensitive areas like the genitals.

Hi, I just found out that my skin wasn't overly sensitive. Instead, there's an inch-long papercut-like cut on the left part of my outer labia... No wonder it hurts really bad when I move. Suggestions please?

The labia ("lips" or folds of skin of the external female genitals) need to stay clean to promote healing. First, clean the area with soap, wiping downwards.

It is often helpful to allow more air to reach the genital area when such cuts are trying to heal. Wear cotton underwear (rather than nylon). You can also wear underwear that has a cotton lining in the crotch area. This allows greater air flow and decreases the amount of moisture in the area creating a good environment for the cut to heal. Remove underwear at bedtime if you're comfortable doing that. It shouldn't take too long.

Then, check with your gynecologist for recommended topical creams. I'm not sure, but perhaps Desitin or other ointment can help.
