I went to the ENT specialist because I was certain I had an ear infection but found out I had TMJ. Probably caused by the stress of having a baby. I've had it all. The ear aches, the pain in the temple, sinus pressure, u name it. I've had it. Symptoms come and go. But the thing that scares me most is the feeling of (I don't know exactly how to call it) it's not really dizziness. It's like the feeling you get when you have a bad cold and you blow your nose too hard, that feeling in your head that kind of makes you feel out of balance and full in the ears, like foggy too, dull dizziness but not like everything is spinning around. Even blinking sometimes makes me feel that sort of vibration in the head.
My question is if this is "normal" with TMJ Disorder or could it be something else? Has anyone else felt the same feeling?
I also get the feeling of off balance but not full on dizzy. I describe it as i feel like i am on a boat and my brain feels like its moving left to right inside. I was wondering if anyone gets a sore back or spine because i do and i am starting to doubt its tmj and that its something else.
Yeah I get that too. I did the whole ordeal with a chiropractor and a bunch of strecthcing. For me its TMJ. That its just so much clenching that it really can screw up the rest of your body. I got some bite splints that helped but I am not back to normal. I am still hearing ringing, and dizzyness but ...hopefully a levage and possible arthroscopy will help. I pray it does.
I get back pain/spine pain and this fullness in the head/ears that you have described. It is quite scary sometimes because it feels like im just guna 'go' if you get me, like im guna drop the floor n faint. Its weird as it passes quickly.
I have TMJ and I think it was the cause or contributed to my light-headedness / passing out. I get that feeling of disorientation in space and also a greying out of my vision. I did some research and found that such a thing could be caused by corotid sinus overstimulation (large vessel) or vegas nerve overstimulation - both located near the tmj. my theory is the tmj inflamed the nerve, and then it gets more irritated because it's already swelled, and then more inflamed, etc. I did experience a reduction in light-headedness / sudden dizziness, when i started the TMJ therapy. I also had those symptoms come back when my appliances were malpositioned or broke.
I know what you mean, thankfully I don't get that feeling as much anymore, two things that helped that sort of feeling for me were: pilates (do some searching on it), its sort of full body stretching exercises, its amazing would when you do one that involves your back and abdomen, for example, sometimes you can feel your jaw relax.. our bodies are pretty complex so the different joints / muscles can have more effect on one another than you may think..
also, getting massages helped in a similar way
You should be careful with pilates and take it slow, as you don't want to aggravate anything even more, but it may be worth trying for you
I have a very sore jaw that cruches etc. The main symptoms I have in the sore ear and feeling or unbalanace. I also have a stiff neck due to bad sleep posture so I am not sure if it's tmj causing the unbalance or an injury to the upper spine. Either way this feeling every day sucks.
I have the same feelings as all of you and it's quite scary! I get the feeling of stuffiness in my ears, headaches over my temples, stuffy head, pain and dull achy pain in jaw, neck pain, stiff neck, and the most scariest: that feeling of off balanced. I have anxiety disorder so the feeling of being unbalanced and swaying sets off anxiety with me. Like the other person said, I feel like I'm just going to fall over and "go." very very scary! If anyone who has tmj would Facebook me that would be awesome because I do not know anyone who has it and can relate.
I've the same feeling of dizziness which is like um sitting in a boat or um swaying !!!
Really its scary , i discovered that um clenching a lot my jaws when um stressed or if um concentrating at doing anything , also that sinus pressure
Um really feeling afraid of having something bad in my head like a tumor or something i dk
Can any one who experienced that share with us how he/she got over these horrible symptoms ??
