I have been treated for an ear infection for going on to 4 weeks now. In total I have been given 4 lots of antibiotics including ear drops. My Doctor has told me I definately have otitis externa however, she sent me to M clinic to have microsuction. As my ear was to swollen I was given two dressings before I actually had microsuction then 1 weeks worth of antibiotic drops. On return to the clinic I was told I have a cloudy eardrum and that I would need to be referred on to a specialist. My symptoms started with a constant clear fluid dripping from my left ear a large swollen gland behind the ear. For over a week now I have had a constant frontal headache and stiff neck radiating to my shoulders. I have asked my Doctor what a cloudy eardrum is and she has told me that there are varied reasons and the specialist will probably want a CT scan to see what is actually there. I would just like to know if anyone has an idea as to what it may be from my symptoms, I'm really fed up and feel tired all of the time so much so that I feel as if I need to sleep when I'm at work and even after all the treatment I still have fluid in my ear Sad I would be grateful for any suggestions. Thanks x

Hello, i know just how tired you feel. I have had otitis externa for months now, and in total i've had ear trouble for just over a year. I started with a pseudomonas bacteria infection. It took me months to get rid of that, using ear drops and many different types of tablets, not all at the same time obviously. I'm now struggeling through each day, trying every thing i can to get rid of it. I put cream on my outer ear every day, and that seems to keep it under control, but my ear canal keeps swelling up still. It gets very painful, and i also have the headaches and neck ache. Has anyone any advice to give me please? if you had otitis externa, how did you get rid of it? i'd be very grateful to anyone who could help me please, thank you.
