I have the same problem as of today. I have had the same bulbs in my house for two years and have never seen this. Any one find an answer BESIDES the bulbs?

Orange blood
It is definitely NOT the lights! I have had orange blood for at least 6 months and when I called the nurse line - they thought I was crazy. But when I saw my doctor, he said it is because I have iron-deficeincy anemia. I have been anemic for a couple of years. When you are anemic you have fewer red blood cells, which can change the color of your blood. You should have your hemoglobin levels checked to see if you are anemic.

orange blood
I had the same problem from 2006-2008 and nobody believed me. My blood was straight-up snow fence orange. I made an appointment with the doctor and the woman came in and treated me like I was some attention-seeking nutbag. Her opinion changed when they did the blood draw. They did the basic tests for for red blood count, anemia, etc etc and everything came back normal-- so I got a referral and headed out for more answers.

I saw a team of specialists at the University of Minnesota and the Oncology/Hematology Associate of Minnesota as well. They had absolutely no idea what to do with me. They ran test after test on me, researched crazy/rare blood diseases and had no idea what was going on. They were fascinated by my blood samples which was neat for them, but gut-wrenchingly terrifying for me.

They checked my diet, my workplace, my home, all my hair products and supplements, etc to see if that was causing the problem. Nope.

Eventually I was sent on my way after a few months of testing. They told me to come back if I ever develop some kind of symptom (fatigue, pain, anything) and they'd test again-- otherwise, it appeared that whatever condition I had was not life-theatening or dangerous.

It's almost 2012 and my blood is about 95% back to normal. No clue what happened.

My period stopped for about 6 months and when it started up again recently it was orange and very light. So light that I could go all day with just a pantyliner. 3 cycles before it had stopped were also orange and on the light side. They also each lasted about 3 weeks.

This is so weird, this is the exact thing that is happening to me. I am beginning to think the government is putting something in our food. I am anemic, always have been and have been using the bulbs for about 2 years now. And only now am I starting to have orange blood. I have not changed my eating habits or anything. Very strange!

okay i have never thought to ask this question for some reason i thought it was normal to have orange blood because ive had it before during my period. but i just decided to research it and in one post it said it could be a sign of some virus, and then another said iron, and then one said it could just be pee and blood together (yellow + red =orange), but im worried about the virus thing or anything like that. my iron has been tested before because my mom is anemic so i got tested.

Orangina
I was scared about my orange blood too. After reading these posts, I looked at it under different lights (my closet non-coiled lights) and it looked normal. For those who are confused, the lights don't MAKE your blood orange. It just LOOKS orange in that lighting.

Problem solved
I have trouble with bleeding gums and noticed orange color in bathroom. Period blood on toilet paper is also orange in there. I took a piece of tissue immediately into my bedroom and the same orange blood was a normal red color. The ONLY difference was the bulb. Fluorescent in bath. Incandescent in bedroom. This is going to be more and more common as the CFC bulb is the only one you can buy. Try it yourself while you still can.
