Hi,

A month ago I had unprotected oral sex with a sex worker in Thailand. I gave and received. Since then I have had discomfort in my muscles and joints and swollen glands. I also had a small rash in my outer thighs but they seemed to go 24 hours later. I had a test 12days ago and have not heard back yet but the nurse did not that worried about the test. I have spent the last month pretty much reading every Internet side regarding HIV and have really convinced myself I have it. The swollen glands are concerning me. Have you got any advice?

Hi. Thanks for your response. Something I forgot to mention was my gums bleed and I know that the virus can be transferred through blood. Would that make a difference? Sorry if it was a stupid question.

Oral sex is low risk, but to be conclusive you should do the HIV antibody test beyond at the three month point. If you are is still experiencing symptoms after that, you should consider testing for HTLV.

Best wishes.
