Hello,
Can you check the treatment options, provided by general practicioner for me?
Just in case if something more efficient exists.

I have left knee joint pain for almost 8 months, after overstraining it during sanding drywall (repeated motions right and left with pressure on this leg). No known injury. First 4 months I let it heal itself, using rest, aspirin and sometimes ibuprophen.
Then came to the physician. More than 3 months passed after then, condition worsens.

Sharp, but tolerable pain inside the knee, right in the middle and at the inside, behind and below knee cap. Almost permanent, when knee is bearing body weight, when particular points in movement are reached - very strong, have immediately change position. Stiffness and pain after getting from the bed, for a few minutes, then all normalizes to usual level. Can't sleep for more than few hours without NSAID.

Now the following was added: when without medications - moderate joint swelling, less than twice, comparing to the other leg, no reddening. With medications (NSAID) and with very limited walking - slightly less pain (sharp pain points are still present) and small swelling. After walking or standing for 2 hrs - very strong pain and increased swelling.
Have to keep this leg always slightly bent, and climbing stairs by pulling this leg, not bending actively for stepping on it. No significant bending this leg - even to wear shoes.

At beginning of treatment:
Examination lets feel some grinding, pushing was possible, pulling - until some point.
X-Ray: mild asymmetric changes, slightly narrowed gap.
Ultrasound: all is normal.

Treatment: NSAIDs.
Naproxen for a month - helped very much for a first few days, than as after aspirin.
Then meloxicam - in two days much worse, after a week asked for another medication.
Then diclofenac for a month - slightly better, as long as I was using it. Then all was as before treatment.
Non-prescriptions: Glucosamine, chondroitine, MSM, vitamine C, rose hips, calcium, multivitamins.

Physician told me what is possible:
1. Physiotherapy - not affordable. All I can do is applying heat or exercises myself, if necessary.
2. Be sent to orthopedist for knee injections, ether hyaluronic acid or corticosteroids. Would like to avoid possible introduction of infection or damage during injection, and if changes are either mild or absent - may be it overkill.
3. Naturopath as a last resort.

Now looking for the second opinion, trying to find another physician.

I would like to restore normal functionality, to be able to perform basic everyday life activities like walking, bending, working. I'm generally very healthy, could walk for hours daily. But joints are a weak place: wrists, elbow, knees, hip, back pain. All significantly less bothering, than this knee now. Aged female, if it helps.

I have exactly the same symptoms, the pain in the back of the knee and in the inner knee of right leg, I saw a nurse at the health clinic she said it is arthritus, gave me some anti inflamatry, but they gave me stomache ache so stopped taking them, I just take ibuprofin, cant get to see a doctor they always send you to the nurse, had xray done they confirmed changes in the knee. also have pain in elbow and thumb joint.
