Q: Optic neuritis and MS ?

I seem to have many symptoms that lead me to believe i may have MS.
About 18 years ago i was diagnosed with optic neuritis, i had a brain scan and several other tests. No one ever mentioned MS to me at the time the tests did not give any indication of any thing wrong. My GP told me that there was no treatment and it was just one of those things.
Since that time i have had many attacks on both of my eyes, but fortunately not both at one time.
About a year ago i awoke with the tip of my left thumb numb, and over the next few days it spread to my hand and up my arm untill i had no use in my arm or hand at all.
This lasted for about 90 days at which point i slowly regained the use of my arm and hand, all be it not completely, i still have some slight numbness and pins and needles in that hand. I now have developed double vision which seems to be connected to the same eye that im having an attack of neuritis in. I have taken to wearing a patch over my eye to allow me to drive.
I also get numbness in my feet face and legs, along with constant aching pains in both of my calfs which never subsides.
I have no health insurance so i cant even get any treatment right now.

I think i have covered it all but its possible i have missed some thing.

I am a 41 year old withe male, thats pretty scared and lost right now, any advice would be gladly accepted..

HI Mattie,
Have you thought about getting your records from your GP..Can you get Medicaid? There are hospitals and free clinics out there..Please checkonline for your area..I wonder what your brain scan showed? I don't know that a GP would have the knowledge and understanding of MS..A opthamologist would need to sdee you for the Optic Neuritis-that is something you don't want to put
off..The Opthalmogist could also help you in diagnosis..
I hope you are able to see a professionbal soon to get help if nothing more than ease your mind..

Oh i thought of one more question.

Does alcohol have any direct affect on ms patients other than all the usual affects that a non ms patient would experience.

Hey mattie, any soda type drinks definately affect your problems as they cause a depletion of magnesium & a magnesium & calcium balance is imperative to gain control of muscle balance & eliminate cramps, this will become evident the more you study. The important thing to avoid is causing unbalance of the minerals & creating a hyperthyroid state. How is your research going from the info i have guided you to?
