Q: Open wound at anus

i have genital warts around my anus due to HPV. I have experienced bleeding from an open wound around the anus. It heals but then reoccurs. I have pain and itching around the anus. Bowel movements are extremely irratating and can cause additional discomfort beyond the pain and itching already being experienced. I am embarrassed to contact a doctor about the problem. I am afraid of the outcome.

GI Specialists are the experts that are advised when treating anal-rectal problems. I'd suggest that you get over your fears ... and get to your primary doctor first and then ask for a referall, if necessary. The thing that we need to understand is that doctors DON'T CARE what is going on in our bodies. They are generally not into taboos like the regular population, and don't judge us according to what the see. In fact, most times they simply want to help us get better.

Good luck! But you need to see a doctor to avoid infection and complications.
