I dove at a softball game about 2 weeks ago, and did some damage to my shoulder. Basically, I dove with my left arm across my body, and felt like my arm jammed into the ground. I felt an immediate pain in my shoulder, and a warm sensation for about 2 or 3 minutes. I was able to keep playing, but lifting my arm above my head or going full extension caused pain and that warm feeling again.

I took about a week off, with just dull pain every once in a while. I played basketball at about half speed, and felt more intense pain. Now when I'm resting, I'll get a dull, achy pain in my shoulder, similar to the "dead arm" feeling after lifting. Putting pressure on the outside and back of my shoulder is also pretty painful.

Any thoughts of what I might have done. I'm sure the smart thing to do is to head in and see the doctor Smile

Thanks!

shoulder bursitis and impingement is a possibility but could also be rotator cuff tear!
you will need to see a doctor and organise a ultrasound of the shoulder to confirm.
depending on how bad it is it could take a week of rest up to 12mths or more to heal.
I have had shoulder bursitis and impingement for 5mths now and it is just beginning to get better now! Ive tried every treatment possible and the best so far is a cortisone injection into the bursa to get rid of the inflammation.

hope this helps!
