I was diagnosed with mono almost exactly 2 years ago...about 4/5 months after i was diagnosed i started dating this guy...and about a month into the relationship HE contracted mono, he got better, and we kept dating/kissing for a year after that.
We then broke up...and about 2 months ago, (1 year and approx. 10 months after i was diagnosed) i started dating my (now) boyfriend..we have been dating for about 2 months...and HE just found out that he now has mono.
I don't understand how i've given both of the guys I am/have dated mono, after two years?!? Is it because I keep kissing the guys I give mono to which enables the disease to stay in my system longer?
I feel so bad for my boyfriend...I just don't want to keep transferring mono to every boyfriend I have my whole life, how can I make it stop?!??!?

When you get mono you get it from the Epstein Barr virus. Once the mono is out of your system the virus stays in your body but is inactive. So anyone who hasn't had mono that comes in contact with your saliva can get it. If your worried about it I would suggest only kissing people who have had mono. Very Happy
