Q: ongoing hemorrhoids

I first experienced hemorrhoids when i was 18 years old. It was quite painful and never seemed to go away. After a few months I went to the doctor and got some cortisol cream. This temporarily reduced symptoms but after a while of using it I realised that althoguh it provided immediate relief it seemed to make them worse.

I am now almost 22 and they have not stopped for almost 4 years. Somedays are better than others and some days are unbareable. So far i have had a hemorrhoidectomy which i had one quite large external removed. It suddenly changed from a small itchy, cut feeling one to quite large the size of a small grape and was extremely painful so much that walking was quite difficult. that and another was removed during the same surgery.

That was 12 months ago and about 6 months ago I had 2 more removed by rubber band ligation. Since then I still have at least three that I know of. I went to my speacialist and it seems that he cant see any worth treating, but they are extremely painful at times which is quite frustrating and expensive and ebarissing visiting the doctor only to be sent off feeling I am imagining them. He has suggested I see a colonic speacialist, to date I have not seen them but plan to soon. I am not expecting any miracles or anything new.

I am not overweight and I try to keep quite active doing about 30 minutes of excercise per day, which I feel alleaviates symptoms. I am not consitpated, I can count on one hand the amount of times in my life. So far I have concluded that it I have some congenital weakness.
It is really affecting my ability to work and enjoy life and I just have no hope of ever getting better.

I have pretty much read every source on hemorrhoids available and tried just about everything. I am just hoping someone might have a good idea I havent thought of yet.

So far: Operations fail, creams fail, horse chestnut and other vein health supplements fail, kegel excercise fail,

Hanging upside down definately helps a lot.

Anyway if anyone has anything helpful I would be grateful.

Hemorrhoids
Alum crystal solution works well. Make up a solution using 1 part alum to 5 parts water. Dilute this concentrate and use the dilution to wash the hemorrhoidal area. Using a dropper, place a few drops inside to treat internal hemorrhoids. Stings a bit, but in a few days using the alum you will see and feel a noticeable difference.

Depression about hems is worse than the hems themselves I find.

Good luck, chat soon.

@bizza.. what you said about exercising is right on.

i found that doing exercises for relaxing and strengthening my pelvic floor helped me. try to relax your legs and your pelvis as an exercise. also, try to flex those areas. working out the rest of your body will reduce your stress levels which helps too.

@BlueMondayJG: you're absolutely right about the depression. the worse you think it is the worse it will become. mind over matter works here.

Good luck.

Hemorroids
bizza87 - Alum is working so well for me! Yesterday splashed diluted solution on protruding hem 3 times during the day, a minute a session, used glass dropper (yikes, am scared its going to break, must invest in a plastic one soon!) and put about 3 drops internally also about 3 times, today the same regime, and am so happy. Pain is going, discomfort is minimal ... and here I thought my life as I knew it was over. By-the-way, I use ordinary alum crystals obtainable very cheaply at any drug-store. Kegels help a bit too, so keep at them, I use a Kegel Master which makes the exercises easier. Hang in there.

Herbs that got rid of my Hemorrhoids
i had hemorrhoids really bad after the birth of my 2nd child the only thing that finally got rid of them was an herbal product i found online with a hard to forget name "hemroid harry". Here are the herbs used in the product, i took this from the site with permission

Witch Hazel -- contains procyanadins, resin, and flavonoids, which help it work as a soothing, anti-inflammatory agent that relieves hemorrhoid pain.

White Oak Bark - the active ingredients are tannin and quercin. Quercin is similar in effect to salicin (natural aspirin) and is used along with bioflavinoids to strengthen the capillaries and veins. White oak bark also contains ample amounts of calcium, manganese, potassium and magnesium. It is particularly good for stopping internal bleeding.

Butcher's Broom Root -- has been known for 2,000 years for its healing properties, especially for its benefits to the circulatory system. Recent tests by German and French doctors indicated that butcher's broom root lessens post-operative thrombosis; and also showed definite and measurable relief for hemorrhoid and varicose vein sufferers.

Stone Root -- is used to reduce back pressure in the veins, which in turn helps prevent the formation or worsening of hemorrhoids and varicose veins.

Ginger -- extracts have been shown to have both antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-tumor effects on cells. We use it for its ability to improve blood circulation and naturally cleanse the body.

Cayenne -- has been used medicinally for thousands of years. There is no other herb which increases your blood flow faster than cayenne. When you have hemorrhoids, there's often a restriction of blood flow to that area. Blood flow is what takes nutrition and the healing properties of herbs to those cells. Blood flow is also what carries out and removes waste material.
