For as long as I can remember for my adult life the upper right side of my gums have been swollen, I'd say a good quarter inch from my canine tooth to the back of my gums. They don't hurt or bleed they are just raised higher then the other side. I used to have braces until I was 18, I'm 26 now. I do remember my gums getting swollen from having braces but I guess I don't remember if they stayed that way or not after I had them removed. It's just odd that only one side is swollen. I do plan on going to the dentist but wont be able to for a few weeks.

Here's an image of my gum if it helps:

See your dentist. I had a similar problem and it turned out that cosmetic invisalign from years prior had placed my bottom tooth in occlusal trauma. I ignored the small swollen area for around a year and suddenly the gum began to recede. It turned out I had periodontal disease develop in just that local area from the infected gum. I just had gingival flap surgery and the tooth is loose. I may lose the tooth because I ignored it.
