I have been on marvelon for years, my last 5 months have been run back to back for conviencience so I and my GP agreed cerazette would suit me better, she told me that I could disregard my old pill pack and start straight away with cerazette. On day 4 ish I had a 6 day period which has now finished and have been on cerazette for 12 days, am i protected from pregnancy yet? and if not when will i be? Thanks!

Hi,
Welcome to ehealthforum,
The protection from the new pill pack would start after 2-3 weeks of regular use. Unprotected intercourse during switchover of the birth control pills can lead to pregnancy (especially if the hormonal content of the pills were different). Wait and watch for your periods/withdrawal bleeding. Use additional protection if having intercourse to prevent pregnancy chances. Visit your doctor/gynecologist for further clarification and assistance.
Take care.
