Q: On and off bleeding ?
asked by: DoctorQuestion on March 8th, 2009
Alright, so I had my last period less than two weeks ago, and two days ago I woke up and I had vaginal bleeding. I bled heavily all day, and then woke up the next morning and there was nothing. Later that day, I started bleeding again, and then stopped again today but just started bleeding again about an hour ago, and I have been looking up everything on the internet to find out why this has happened. This bleeding is very mucus-y and there are a lot of clumps of blood. It was almost like blood covered snot. (Sorry) I have been sexually active, but for the most part protected. On Friday, I took plan B after sex. He had thrusted inside me maybe 6 times without protection. I had been on the pill for a year and a half, but stopped taking it in November. I don't know what has caused this bleeding, I went to the women's clinic and had a pregnancy test done which came back negative. Thank you so much!

Assuming that the normal length of your menstrual cycle is 28 days, you might have experienced mid-term bleeding. It occurs during approximately at the same time with ovulation due to hormonal changes that accompany the ovulation. Mid-term bleeding is not considered pathological. However, you might want to visit your gynecologist if this condition happens again the next menstrual cycle.
