I eat like 4 bags of Lay's light potato chips each week. I recently heard olean oil is bad for your health. Other than stomach problems like diarrhea, oily stool, and orange oil in stool, are there any serious dangers?

Olestra can cause abdominal cramping, oily/ loose stools, diarrhea, nausea and underwear spotting. It can also block the absorption of vitamins A, D, E and K as well as carotenoids which are found in carrots, sweet potatoes, green leafy vegetables and some animal tissue. So the chips cooked in Olestra are fortified with the vitamins and the FDA recommends that you do not eat carotenoids in the same meal as the chips because the chips will prevent absorption. You should also keep in mind that if you flatulate, you may soil yourself with an orange, oily substance.
