Q: Old sports injury ?

I used to be a lot more active in sports than I am now, but due to work and classes in my university, I don't have the time to play anymore. I used to be really active in high school, playing soccer and softball, but when I arrived at college I was forced to pick one to play during the season for my school. I decided to go with softball and ended up re-injuring my knees (thanks to the fact I was a catcher), and then severely pulling my groin during tryouts for softball. I was forced to quit due to the injuries, and I was not allowed to play ever again. About a year and a half later, I decided to try to get back into shape again and try out for some club sports. I started working out and during some leg exercises, while my knees tend to do their usual straining, my left hip pops when I lift it (when creating a 90 degree angle) and side step to the left. It doesn't hurt much normally, except for the occasional discomfort, but the hip popping is a bit disarming. Is my body just reacting to being non-active for so long? Is my groin still pulled or is it something worse? Should I see the medical trainer or doctor on campus about it?
