I am trying my best. The problem is I've lost 10lbs. I was drinking decaf coffee & I was still having problems then I was reading your diet I believe & found out decaf has some caffine in it. Do you know if decaf instant tea does? I need to go back over your diet again. The problem is my doc thinks I'm starving myself for the fun of it. Also I can eat small amount of steak & my bs goes down. Is there a reason for this?

Anything decaf still has caffeine, you need to switch to totally caffeine free herbal teas. Dandelion root, in fact, is great for the pancreas and actually has a coffee taste to it, so try that. Your blood sugar isn't going down because of the steak, it's going down because it assumes you're going to eat something bad, so it just shoots out more insulin than it needs to. It will keep doing this until you get on track.

Stan, can you tell by looking at my insulin levels if I am what they call insulin resistant. I just don't understand this. It is like it came out of nowhere. I have been on low glycemic diet for 7wks now & still do not feel well. I'm a little stabler. Also when my insulin level went to 33 in an hour was that alot? I just don't understand because it was still in the reference range.

Okay, good. Insulin resistant would be the opposite, your readings would be high. What are you currently eating? BE THOROUGH when you tell me!

The ogtt is from 2 yrs ago. I seemed to even out after it & do fine for a couple of yrs. Just 7 wks ago i got deathly sick again. I will admit I was cheating often. My problem is I am only 109 lbs.I lost 10 lbs in 7 wks. I have seen dietician & numerous doctors over this. They all seem to have their own thoughts on diets. Some even suggest I eat everthing. Most of them look at me like I've tried to do this to myself. I am getting really fed up. My endo even has me doing glucernia drinks. My mornings are usually peanut butter & ritz crackers at 7:ooam ( not sugar free, this is what they have told me to eat ) 1-2 eggs & whole grain tst at 9Surprisedo am. 1/2 of some kind of meat sandwich on whole grain bread & 1/2 apple at 11:00 am. The other 1/2 & gr.beans at1:00pm. Peanut butter crackers & 1/2 apple at 3:00 pm. Glucernia drink until supper . supper is some kind of meat, cottage ch, broc. I continue to eat like this until 12;oo am. Today I had my normal pb & crackers, 1 egg & 1/4 bowl of rice crispies 2 hrs later I eat carb masters yogart ( 4g carbs, 3g sugars, 12g protein & within 30 minutes I could feel my sugar dropping so I checked it & it was 79, so I ate 1/2 of turkey & cheese on whole grain & 1/2 an apple & I got the worst belly ache so I rechecked 20 minutes after I ate & it was 121. please any suggestions I'm desperate!

Wow, that's a REALLY AWFUL diet. No wonder you're still sick. Read my diet thread on this forum called 'Hypoglycemia Rules and Diet'. Everything you need to know is in there.

okay, now I'm really confused. So are you telling me NO sugar at all? I have never heard of the kind of bread you are taking about. What can I eat to maintain my weight? am I eating enough carbs or too little? I don't mean to sound stupid I've just been told different things by 6 different docs & 1 dietician its not working so I'll give anything a try.

Yep, no simple sugar. You can have sugar from fruit, but that's about it. Your weight is maintained by eating slightly more protein and fat, as well as those grains I mention. I mention how many carbs to eat in there, but likely right now you're eating way too many, and with LOTS of bad additives. Don't feel stupid, I know where you're coming from, I had to deal with almost five years of misinformation until I got it right on my own. Ritz crackers are just terrible for you, I can't believe they suggested them. Allowing you to eat any sugar is like telling a heroin addict that, to get better, they can still have a little bit of it. NO.

I've dealt with this for yrs too but it has never been like this. The dietician insists I can eat some sugar with protein & so does my pcp & endocrinologist. I hate to tell them but NO I can't. I'm tired of them looking at me like I do this to myself! Also they keep pushing zanax & anti-d's at me THEY DON"T WORK! I'm about ready to get mean with them. Thank you for all your help.

Don't take that medicine just yet. Years ago I made the mistake of doing it and thought it was doing something when in fact it was just my diet working (didn't know what I had at the time and came upon a diet that worked by accident). I don't want you to go against your doctor, but there is nothing harmful about doing what I suggest, it's just a really healthy diet. There's nothing strange or weird or dangerous about it, so don't worry! Feel free to always send me any questions you have as you go along. Things with this always get a LOT worse before they get better. Once you cut that crap out, expect your body to revolt and be prepared for it. Don't listen to what it tries to get you to do, push it away and struggle through it and you'll make it.
