Q: odds on who father is ?

My ex-gf is trying to tell me that her doctor told her that I have a 97% chance of being the father of her baby. Here are the facts I know
The last time we had sex was around midnite on a camping trip 7/24/08 her period started the next day on 7/25. She took a pregnancy test in early august and it was negative. She had her gall bladder removed in the middle of August around the 20th. She left me after the camping trip and started dating another guy a week later. She claims not to have had sex with him until the teens of august.

Her doctor gives her a due date of may 1 based on LMS of 7/25. Based on an ultrasound last month in december the due date was a couple days earlier of April 29. This same doctor originally told her there was no chance I was the father in october. Does this Dr keep changing his mind or is she making all this up? Why would a doctor tell a girl there was a 97% someone is the father. Explain the real chances to me please. Why would the DR say I was the likely father and not this other guy she was with.

Thank you

i really don't have any knowledge about this, but
why don't you call and ask that doctor?
the most confusing part for me is that she had her period.

Ok... if she has a normal menstrual cycle (around 28 days long) then she got pregnant around August 8th. Was July the last time you had sex with her? Because if she started her period the day after you last had sex and yall didn't have sex again then it can't be your baby. It really sounds like it is the other guy's baby. You most definitely should take a DNA test as soon as the baby is born as it doesn't sound like it's yours.

Here is how a LMP calculation works at the average doctor's office. We will use your girlfriend as the subject in the scenario.
Ok your girlfriend has her last menstrual period in July, on the 25th. Now, you have to add two weeks to that (assuming her cycle is regular). That would make the ovulation date August 8th. This means that between the 6-10th of August were the most likely conception dates. So, looks to me that you are not the daddy. Now with that being said, do not take the ultrasound too much to heart. Ultrasounds can be off by 1-2 weeks. Yes, I know that makes it possible that you could be the father, but I highly doubt it. She is not as far along in her pregnancy where the ultrasound would measure so off. That usually happens around the 7th month, where things get crowded and harder to measure. The ultrasound at 4-5 months is usually off by a few days, a week at most. If I were you, I would request a paternity test.

A doctor wouldn't tell her by a percentage like that who the father is. He would more likely suggest a paternity test be performed after the baby is born. Tell her that is what you'd like - I'll betcha she gets angry Wink
