Your first OB appointment! doctor Congratulations!

First, you can expect to be weighed, have your vitals taken plus some basic baseline tests (blood pressure, blood tests for blood count and hormone levels, your lungs and heart will be checked, plus a urine sample). The doc will review your medical history and your family medical history. Based on the answers to these questions, your doctor may suggest various tests, a certain diet, or specialty care.

The doctor might also your breasts and/or administer an internal exam to check the uterines position, size, and shape. You may also get to hear your baby’s heartbeat through a hand held Doppler.

You may be given a prescription for prenatal vitamins and you'll be able to schedule your next appointment. Maybe ask about the importance of folic acid or diet changes, exercise, etc.

wow im due a month ahead of you,and ive already been to 3 appointments.. and have another one in 2 weeks, and have had 3 ultrasounds already and have another tomorow... i thought they want to see you the first time from 8-10 weeks??

but at mine, they have u pee in a cup, took lots of blood, discussed your health background and your familys, herd the heartbeat, and did a internal exam and pap test.... my last appointment all they did was hear the heartbeat and thats it lol
im almost sure they will listen to the heartbeat, theyve done it for me at every appointment so far

i have been to many appointments with my family doctor,
where we had tests done, etc.
i've had about 3 or 4 ultrasounds done already as well.

but my family doctor is doing some sort of shared care with an obstetrician, so now all of my appointments will be with him.

the first one, was really early on and it was the first appointment i had related to the pregancy. they did the ultrasound and blood work, i think just to check that one: i was actually pregnant, and two: that everything was okay.

the second was at the hospital and my doctor said it was just to check measurements and such, that one was also paired with bloodwork.

the third was at a hospital in muskoka because i had started bleeding and we needed to make sure everything was alright.

and the last one was the ultrasound that let us know we were having a boy!

I'm assuming the second one was for a nuchal translucency??? were you around 11-14 weeks?
Was the last one at 18 weeks for anatomy? They don't just give you an ultrasound to find out gender. If this was the case then you should ask your obstetrician for the results: Were there any anatomical abnormalities? Was the placenta clear of the cervix? Was the measurements of the fetus consisten with the prev ultrasounds, etc etc.

yes, they were around those weeks,
and for each ultrasound, they've said that everything was fine and the baby was normal and healthy.
and i didn't say the last one was scheduled for that purpose, what i said was that that happened to be the ultrasound that we found out the gender.
