Q: Obesity and hair loss
asked by: DoctorQuestion on April 16th, 2008
I have lost a quite a big patch of hair behind of my left ear. I had it earlier as well. But during my pregnancy period, that is last year, hair had started growing. Thats I Guess because of medicines (iron,calcium,vitamins)etc.. But after that it has again started. Now its really very big and I quite worried about it as well.

Moreover I am overweight as well. I want to reduce my weight too.
Please help me with some medicines which will cure it.

.Obesity is generally treated with diet and increased physical activity. There are no magical pills that will reduce your weight. There are certain pills that prevent fats’ absorption in the intestines but their effect can be neutralized by eating more proteins and carbohydrates.

You may want to consult a nutritionist about proper diet.

According to your description, your hair loss (alopecia) belongs to a restricted type of alopecia which includes several possibilities (alopecia areata, trichotillomania, local infection…). You need to be examined by a dermatologist to determine the precise type of alopecia, first.
