I just got the nuvaring on Wesnesday June 25...my question is this..my last period was on the 7th... I read in the instructions you are supposed to start the nuvaring on your period or within 5 days I think it was. My doctor said that I need to use protection for 7 days...am I still protected after 7 days...since the instructions say nothing about starting that far from your period. Also, I feel kinda like I might be ovulating...once I have already started ovulating will the ring stop it? I just don't want to wait the 7 days and have unprotected sex and the ring didn't take effect...HELP!

Why you insert the ring so late (or too early)? Why you could wait for your next period to come and then to put the ring? Did you had intention to skip the expected period?

I don't know why my doctor did that. I think it may have something to do with me having PCOS, as I do not have regular periods. My question is whether my doctor was correct when she said I just need to wait 7 days before having sex without a condom? I feel like I might be ovulation though?

If you have PCOS it is very unlikely for you to ovulate. Even if you ovulate you can't feel that. Woman with PCOS can start using Nuvering whenever she wants. Using condom in the first 7 days after insertion of the Nuvaring should be enough.
