Hi, I just got the nuvaring and inserted it today. After my day was over of course I was curious as to whether it moved out of my reach because that was my biggest fear. I always wash my hand before touching myself like that. I felt to see if I could still reach it and I was satisfied that It was in and I dont feel it and I didn't "lose" it.

So i noticed on my fingers these tiny white balls. looked like sprinkles of some kinda white goo. I pulled the ring out and it was coated with this white goo. I rinsed it and reinserted. My question is if the nuvaring causes that as it releases the hormones. This is my first BC. I need the hormones more than the protection.

I havent felt any side affects like burny or itchy or anything. i feel fine so far, but there is that white stuff. Is this some normal chemical reaction that anyones noticed. Also it didn't smell. It wasnt liquidy either. at least not yet. just like speckles of white cottage cheese like balls. I never had yeast infection so i have no idea. Wouldnt i feel the least bit uncomfortable or smelly if it was yeast. Anyway. Can nuvaring cause this and is it harmless? I wouldnt have called it a discharge because if i never woulda stuck my fingers in there to check on the ring i may not have seen it.

it sounds leukorrhea, a harmless discharge that your body makes when high amounts of hormone are present. From what I understand, this happens on nuvaring more than others because of the high absorption of hormones right into your blood system. Check your nuvaring insert as I believe this is a side effect (this is also an unpleasant side effect of pregnancy- yuck!) If you start to get burning or itchiness, have pain on urination or pelvic pain, see your doctor right away. If you have any other questions, call your doctor, otherwise I wouldn't worry.
