Hi - I'm having a bit of trouble losing weight. I've never had trouble in the past. I usually gain about 5-10lbs in the winter, compared to the summer. I know I have to hit the gym for any real results, but this winter's weight is not coming off, and I've been going 3-4 times a week for a month or two now.

I recently (over the past 3 months) have begun using Nuvaring as I hate taking pills and I used to psych myself into nausea when I took oral contraceptives (Velivet). I can't seem to get any weight to budge, on the scale or in the mirror, since using this new method.

Has anyone had any problems with Nuvaring and weight gain? And does anyone know any low dose oral BC that might not have these side effects. My friend whose a PA swears that weight gain and birth control pills is not linked, scientifically - but I wonder who paid for that research?

Any thoughts?

I know some do cause weight gain. Maybe there is a better drug without that side effect. Maybe you could ask for a better drug. If you keep working out hard as you have been you should start to see results, you just have to be patient. If you are still having trouble, you can always increase the amount of exercise you do, and see if it works better for you.
