I've been on NuvaRing for several years now and suddenly in this last cycle my period has extended from 5 to 8 days and is much heavier. I was told unless it was between 7-10 days and that I needed to use a pad an hour it wasn't a bad thing. I mostly want to know if this means that the ring is missing its hormones! Has this happened to anyone else?

Can you check your packaging and make sure it's not expired? Did you store it in a really hot place? (Really hot, not just like normal house hot)

Those are the only reasons I could think that the ring malfunctioned. I would just think it's a weird abnormality.

I agree. Unless if the ring was expired or exposed to extreme heat or cold, the hormones should be fine. I'm not sure why your bleeding time was longer than normal. Have you been doing anything else different in life that might explain it (diet, exercise, etc)?
