Hi. I'm 16. And for the past 4 months or so have been experiencing this like...tingly numbness on my left back area near the shoulder blade. It doesn't hurt or anything, just feels very odd and it always feels like this when I don't fit up perfectly straight. When it first started I rarely felt it, and now I feel it almost all the time. I'm just hoping it's not cancer. I just feels annoying all the time and I haate the tingliness. It feels as if it is always falling asleep. Anyone have suggestions? Also, I have a tiny lump in my right ear lobe close to my head. It feels like a little ball. It doesn't hurt and I know it isn't from a piercing. It started a couple months ago. Thanks!

Extremely eHealthy
Symptom that may start as a tingling and change to a numbness, or when there is a combination of decreased sensation (numbness) but with heightened sensations at certain times or with stimulation, is known as a changed skin sensations or paresthesia.
Usually is a symptom related to a sensory nerve being damaged, diseased, or injured (a nerve entrapment or some type of pressure being applied to a nerve directly or to the spinal attachment of that nerve).
The lump on your ear lobe is probably a sebaceous cyst resulting from blocked sebaceous gland (ears are common site for sebaceous cysts).

Visit your doctor for finding the reason for your skin sensations!

Best wishes!

Tingliness
I too Often get a similar feeling in the left shoulder, like an electrical charge. There is never any pain just constant annoyance of this tingling sensation. I recently went to my GP, and he give me the basic lung tests. He said that my lungs arnt operating properly. I am a smoker of over 12 years, i started at 13 now im 25. He sent me for a chest x-ray today. And to be honest i am shitting myself. I am trying to stop smoking but to be honest i am very concerned that i may have lung cancer. Any body have any thoughts on my symptom? Thanks

Possible Diagnosis...
Is your tingling/creepy-crawly feeling accompanied by a rash that looks like a brown bruise? If that's the case, it could be Notalgia Paresthetica (not cancer!). My doctor said it's often caused by carrying a heavy book bag/purse/backpack, particularly on the same side every day. Stretching your back muscles and carrying a lighter bag will help.

Tingling left shoulder blade
Hi, I have been experiencing tingling sensation on my left shoulder blade too just about every night, it's an annoying feeling and no matter which way I sleep the discomfort is there. I've been experiencing this for about 2-3 years. I have no clue what it could be. This tingling sensation does not let me sleep and often wake up trying to massage the area. It's been to the point that Im frustrated, this tingling can go on for more than 20-30 mins every other night or longer. Any suggestion of what this could be, would be great.

I have this same thing. numbness and tingling on my left shoulder blade. I have been working out and I smoke weed every day. I have pain under my ribs on the right that I think is a stomach ulcer but it is $2000 to find out so that is not happening.

My Numbness and the reason why!
I'm not saying this is why it's happening to all of you, but it's what is happening to me, and the reason for it. Always see a doctor or specialist.

But if any of this rings true...

I too have the tingling numbness in my shoulder around the blade area. For me it's caused by years of computer use. I work with computers and in my spare time I play games too. This has caused it for me and time away from computers makes it go away - and then it comes back again not long after I start gaming alot. Now as much as possible I just use computers at work and try to allow myself only an hour or so gaming at night (if that).

You tend to get it in your left shoulder blade as you're either right handed - play games using a mouse in the right hand and keyboard on the left (worse still if you use the numeric keypad so you're stretching your left arm even more). With a laptop I often have it on my right leg so I'm stretchin that way too. Obviously if you're left-handed this could be reversed.

Honestly I probably sound more like a mother than someone who's actually got these symptoms. It's a pain cos I love gaming but instead I read books more now and spend my spare time doing other things like cooking and art and craft stuff.

But I'm still playing games too much and it happens alot. But I thought I'd inform alot of you as to why this may be happening.

Thanks for your time!

Numbness in Lung is worring me
I get numbness in my left lung/shoulder blade. It's been happinig for the last month or so now. Im going to be 30 this year and my body isn't what it used to be when i was younger. I was a gymnast, cheerleader....active. Now i am the extreme, not active at all. I have always struggled with "asthma" and breathing difficulty. I've been on every inhaler known to man and even pills. Nothing seems to work. I fear that i may have cancer or some sort of obstruction in the lung area. My parents were heavy heavy smokers growing up...to the point where there was a haze of smoke in the house. I worry it's from that. Any thought as to what this is? And yes, i am being treated for anxiety Wink

im not sure but games isnt a diagnosis!
But I too have these pains in left shoulder. Pissed me off more than anything but I am worried.. may be cancer, gas in chest, pinched or damaged nerve. Many possibilities.. playing games isn't a diagnoses!

Hello all--

I seem to have the same odd feeling under my left shoulder blade. It's not musculo-skeletal for me. I'm a smoker, and it seems to be triggered only when I smoke. Chest X-ray was negative. I've read elsewhere that smokers can sometimes get this because a nerve associated with the lungs has been damaged. I don't believe it's permanent, as I keep trying to quit smoking, and every time I get down to 5-7 cigarettes per day, no cigarette triggers it. When I'm smoking more, it gets triggered after the first few of the day, and sometimes lasts all day after that or just disappears. I sometimes wonder if it's a cardiac issue-- perhaps the result of blood pressure having risen in my heart after smoking? But an EKG and Echocardiogram showed nothing. A chest X-Ray was negative, too. In short, I need to quit smoking, and I think it will go away literally within a day or two. And after that, I've got to follow up with a pulmonologist and cardiologist from time to time. I've smoked about a pack per day since I was 18... I'm now 35. It's time.

Hi there.... My name is Hugo and i have a weird feeling in my right middle back/shoulder blade..... Im 15 and a devoted cigarette hater. I live in a very small retirement and holiday town on the coast of south africa....many people here my age have very little to do over weekends and holidays so instead of hanging out with my friends who enjoy drinking, i chose the friends who smoke marijuana. Personaly i feel you can have fun without mind altering substances but im certain that if i said no to smoking many of my friends would see me as a "party pooper" and rather not invite me to events and stuff.....i have a history of week lungs on my mothers side but this weird numb/tingly feeling seems to mainly be either worsened or relived when flexing my muscles and moving rather than breathing in and out and taking deep breaths....i am a hypocondriac and over obsess over many things ....ive pretty much never been sick in my life so at the moment i have panic atacks over it since im scared that something is seriously wrong like lung cancer.....please i dont want speaches over wether my smoking pot is good or bad..... And please forgive my terrible spelling.....im very smart but english is not my strong subject..

numbness upper left shoulder area of back
i have numbness on my upper left shoulder blade area as well. Its not like I notice it everyday, but when i do. Its due to me scratching my back and not having to much feeling in that 4x4 area. Whats aware of numbness I guess ill call it. Its almost like to me as if I have a dead patch of skin or paralyzed basically able to move cuz its attached to alive skin. I work construction all my life 33 now. so hard work indeed which leaves me to think pinched muscle and poor circulation in that area. Hands seem to be tingly and numb alot with the need or feeling to let atms hang straight down so blood can flow n them. Also left arm kind of cramps a little right in between my bicep and tricep it seems. had physical dr says im just fine. I know dr ms diagnose all day and people loose lives cuz of it. Just got to make sure you mention all symptoms to dr. whether or not they seem relevant at the time. Not to mention more then likely you already have some sort of self diagnose you came up with yourself and like i have Im sure you have also went to the drs and your self diagnose was correct. Maybe something I said help somebody. Buf only you can kno3w when something is wrong with you.

I have the same annoying sensation, shoulder, down my arm to my hand. I have MS and will be seeung the neurologist in the am. For me i have lesions in. my spinal cord in the cervical area. Ive learned to live with weird things but if its just annoying and not pain, i will deal witb it. You may jave inflamation pressing on a nerve in your neck area, see a doc, may need steroids to treat the inflamation.
