Q: numbness in feet & hands

I have numbness & tingling in hands and feet. I am dropping things all the time. I feel like I don't have a good grip on things. I had a MRI done on my brain today, but won't get results until sometime next week. My first thought is MS. I am 48 years old. I had blood work done to make sure I don't have a vitamin deficeincy. I am on Armour (thyroid med) for hypothyroid. Just found out that my TSH is low. Wondering if this could casue my symptoms. Also, I have these stabbing pains all throughout my body...almost like electric shocks. It's all very scary. Has anyone else experienced any of these symptoms? I pray it's not MS. When looking on the MS website I do have many of those symptoms. I was told MS usually hits people between the age of 20 & 30. If anyone out there can give me some advice please do so.

Thank you!

I have been suffering with the same symptoms as you. The electric shock feelings are particularly scary! I am still waiting for my MRI scan. I had just recovered from mononucleosis before my symptoms started. I was curious whether you have ever had mono and if you have any other symptoms? Also would love to know if you have had any success in discovering what is ailing you. I will keep you posted if my doctors discover anything about me as well. Take care, stay strong.

numb / weak legs and hands
i also have had numb legs , feet and hands recently . had mri done of spine ( as groin also went numb a few weeks ago and i was taken in to hospital ).
I had a left leg / knee injury for almost a year and walking has been v tricky generally , but this has taken a new twist.
Am finding lower legs also v weak and heavy . like walking in treacle ?
all quie alarming , and am having 3 part head and neck scan next week.
again one thinks of all sorts and dealing with the fear of it is hard.
the strangest thing was that it came on after i visited a cranio - sacral osteopath here . on both occassions the numbness happened , but he is adamant it is not connected. he did lots of v tiny movements around the base of my spine . Wierd .

I do sympathise - let me know your results

Hey--I have these electric like shocks and learned mine are defiently from pinched nerves..I have disc disease and several herniations but two I now know are pinching a nerve..

I had a cranial sacral therapist work on me--the first month I thought I would need to be hospitalized the pain was so severe..After a while the pain backed off..This woman takes her profession seriously and schools all the time..She moved and for me the pain rerutnred iwht a vengence but also I wouldhave to go to her weekly several times and it is quite expensive-just could nto afford to do..So had to choose food or neck and head..There are many people who say they can do this but am hesitant unless they can prove their training..
A chiropractor may be able to help relieve some of your symptoms..

cranio sacral mysteries....... what are they ??
fascinating kdlee .
this guy was a recommendation from a friend in my village near stroud. what he was doing i thought was very very tiny little movements underneath my back and right down to bottom . also on skull . the 2nd time i went , i came away with a numb right leg . wound up in A and E here and dr said that IF it moved to my groin and other leg to call an ambulance as could be herniated dics. rather stupidly ( or i had nt made onnection ) i returned to see him next week . as you say , they tend to be keen to book you again as you write out a £47 cheque ! same for me - I am an artist and bit skint at times , so cannot afford it really ....
i feel intermittently disbelieving then horrified that whatever he did ( orthodox nhs docs say they often have to clear up after osteopaths - that they can really mess things up ?) could have caused a month off work , real distress and fear and just stunned there is little one can do about it . they are self regulating , and all he said was that 'this numbness has simply flagged up another problems you have ' . i went with knee injury - now seem to have damaged nerves , cannot coordinate my lower legs , or feel feet or thumb . scary and fee quite shocked , so sympathise a lot !
thanks for reply . I would be fascinated to know of other exeriences of this type of 'therapy' . dare I call it 'quackery' ?!

kdlee..
noticed that you have disc disease..so far that is the only thing they have found with me too.however; i am waiting for results from a ct scan..i am booked for another mri, but not until april next year! the wait time in bc is crazy. when i had my first mri..they only scanned my neck area and found 4 bulging discs that r crushing my spinal cord (spinal stenosis). i have excruciating pain in my lower back..so they need to see if i have bulging discs there too. last time i saw my neurologist, she mentioned something about rheumatoid arthritis, i had some blood work done for that but it came back inconclusive. i also had extensive knee surgery when i was younger. i always had problems with my knees growing up. now i am beginning to wonder if my problems with my knees were related to what is going on now. i was wondering if you have ever had blood work done for RA and if so, what they said. i hope all is ok with everyone suffering from these alarming symptoms. i will be back to post more when i found out anything..if at all.
take care all, and try not to worry too much..the stress only adds to the pain.
