Q: Numbers climbing higher

As I have posted previously, I have been hypo for most of my life. But lately I have noticed my BG readings climbing higher than usual. I am showing 179 mg/dl upon awakening in the mornings. Then an hour later, a reading of 88 mg/dl. I will fluctuate up and down from there between 60 mg/dl to 197 mg/dl. I have re-calibrated my monitor and still get these readings. My biggest concern is that the highest numbers are resulting after meals. I can eat a small omelet and get readings as if I had ate a loaded baked potato! The strangest thing of all this is that I feel like I do when my blood sugar is dropping low, but when it is actually high. Can anyone please tell me what is happening to me? My monitor is only a month old so I do not think this is the problem. I cannot go to my regular physician as that he moved and the new physician in that office is unfamiliar with even hypoglycemia. I just need to know if I should be concerned at this point enough to begin seeing a new doctor elsewhere.

It may be you are feeling the effects of your adrenals releasing adrenaline in order to maintain your blood sugar = symptoms but no actual drop. I am get those feelings and blood sugar you describe after eggs...

i think this might help
have you concidered a detox or alkalizing diet i have discovered that mineral balance is crucially important to our general health, this is all controlled by the thyroid which is where our blood sugar is controlled initially. Caffeine is also a bad thing because it has aneffect on the adrenal system & puts it into a overload situation. So the best thing to do is resaerch the following ;
alkalizing, water in water out, natural unprocessed salt & an educational site ithyroid.com , study all the pages & you will see how everything relates.
God Bless!

Well, I am scheduled to go to an endocrinologist this Tuesday. I will let you all know what they find. Thanks for your replies and your concern.

Sounds like you are diabetic. I always thought I was hypoglycemic, but when I did the 3 hour glucose tolerance test, it showed I was diabetic (hyperglycemic). I also fluctuate between highs and lows--that seems pretty common with diabetics since our bodies can't regulate sugar levels. And yes, sometimes the symptoms of high and low are very similar. Only a monitor can tell you. Best of luck.
