Q: numb bottom jaw

My 26 yr old daughter has developed a numb lower lip and jaw. Dentist cant find anything and is sending her to a neurologist? We are nervous. Can this be serious? I was thinking Bels Palsey? I don't want to get ahead of my self but It seems like someting to worry about. Can you help
