Q: Not hard enough for penetration
asked by: DoctorQuestion on March 17th, 2009
I believe I have some form of erectile dysfunction. I can get erections to an extent. I am uncircumsized and the foreskin is loose enough to allow a full erection, however it never gets hard enough.

It remains only slightly bendable, but overall definately not as hard as it should be. I believe it does get hard enough for penetration.

Another notable thing is the head doesn't inflate at all. I can pinch, prod, and push the head at will with no pain, it simply does not get hard.

I masturbate regularly and have since around age 12.

My diet is fairly normal. I am overweight at 255 pounds but have changed my lifestyle for the better and am dropping the pounds.

I sleep about 7 to 9 hours a day. I really have no clue what could be causing this.

I have been put on a wide range of medications, from welbutrin to lithium and depicote to alot more I don't remember.

Any advice on the matter would be more than apreciated.

During erection the blood vessels in the penile shaft are filled with blood, thus making the shaft harder and inflated. This is sometimes not accompanied with proportional inflation of the penile glans, which is still considered normal. The penile glans does not get hard as much as the shaft. You might want to visit your doctor and have him see if the inflation of the shaft and the glans during erection are as expected.
