not breastfeeding and still no period?

User Profile
Hi, I had a baby 9 weeks ago, not breastfeeding and still no period. I have been getting cramps and a pain on my lower left side that comes and goes. I also have been experiencing alot of vaginal discharge. Is this normal or could there be something wrong? My periods are usually regular and my menses started right around 6 weeks postpartum with my first child.

Hi,
Welcome to ehealthforum,
If you have been sexually active after your last delivery, then chances of pregnancy cannot be ruled out. Since you are not breast feeding the child, the protection of lactation amenorrhea (suppression of ovulation due to breastfeeding) will not be effective.
You should consider visiting your doctor/gynecologist for a thorough examination (to confirm pregnancy related changes/signs in body) and blood/serum HCG level test (to confirm/rule out pregnancy accurately) and ultrasound scan done to confirm/rule out pregnancy and also confirm gestational age of fetus if pregnant.
Take care.

I took 2 pregnancy tests and got a negative result on both! Do you think it would be wise to contact my ob/gyn?
