Q: Normal pain for first time sex?
asked by: DoctorQuestion on March 30th, 2009
I'm a 21-year-old virgin female. Although I have never had sex before, my hymen was torn long time ago after a mountain biking incident.

For the last few weeks, my boyfriend and I have been attempting to have sex, but we were unable to. It is because it hurt unbearably when my boyfriend tried to insert his penis. I've been with him for 6months and I am very comfortable with him.

I was sufficiently stimulated and lubricated, but it really hurt at the entrance of the vagina. It feels like it's gonna be ripped into two especially towards the perineum.

We've already tried a couple of time, and I'm beginning to wonder if it is normal. Do I need to go and have it checked out at the doctor?

Lubrication is one of the possible causes in painful intercourse. Using lubricants might be helpful.
On the other hand, you mentioned that you had a previous vaginal trauma. It might have left a scar tissue that is blocking the penetration. You might want to visit a gynecologist for pelvic exam in order to check if the previous vaginal wall trauma is affecting the intercourse.
