Q: Nodules in the lung and lung tumors
asked by: DoctorQuestion on April 28th, 2008
I have only recently quit smoking. It is yet to be determined whether there are any more nodulues; this one was found during a recent CT scan prior to an appendectomy; therefore only the lower part of my body was scanned.

What can this be if not cancer? What is the treatment?

Why did the surgeon look at my hands and fingers and what could he have seen?:

A “Nodule in the lung” on a CT-scan can be due to the presence of a kind of lung tumor – benign or malignant. ST-scan is the first step in investigating any lung tumor. Further diagnostic procedures (bronchoscopy or trans-thoracic punition) are required to reveal the precise nature of the tumor. Therapy depends upon the tumor’s nature and stage (in the case of a malignant tumor).
