Q: no period since October

I gave birth in Oct. 2007 and quit breastfeeding in Dec. I had a short period (3 days) at the end of Jan. 2008 and I haven't had one since then. I am not pregnant and my dr has done an internal exam, pap and blood work (checking for thyroid issues, etc) and she found nothing wrong...should I be concerned that I haven't had my period in 8 months? I lost a lot of blood when I gave birth and had a blood transfusion, I wonder if something happened? Any insight would be appreciated...thanks

Hi, I'm in much of a similar position. My baby was born in August last year. I struggled to get a period for a couple of months and was on hrt, with not much luck. With the help of Clomid I started getting periods again, but it's so light and short it's almost not worth a mention. I'm going to the dr again this afternoon to try and see what's wrong as I'm ttc. I hope it's nothing serious.

Thanks for the reply. I am new to this forum and unfamilar with some terms. What does hrt, Clomid and ttc mean? I would prefer to stay away from prescriptions. Hope all goes well at your drs.

hrt = hormone replacement therapy
Clomid is a drug to help you ovulate, working on the hormones
ttc = trying to conceive

Well, I've been to the dr yesterday and there's a little growth or something on my thyroid gland, but the dr doesn't seem to be concerned about it. So, hopefully it doesn't interfere with my attempts to conceive.
